NEW PERFORMANCES

In Guggenheim, first in the series Destroying 2000 Years of Culture, the performer destroys a wardrobe full of VHS tapes labeled ‘Guggenheim’, first with an axe, followed by a ritualistic burning of the wardrobe and tapes. This work deals with the idea of the artist’s dissolution of her own narcissism, her conflicting sentiments towards her own practice and its relation to the art institutions.
Prostrations series (work in progress started in Nepal, 2011): 1. The act of prostrating, throwing down, or laying fiat; as, the prostration of the body. 2. The act of falling down, or of bowing in humility or adoration; primarily, the act of falling on the face, but usually applied to kneeling or bowing in reverence and worship.
Beirut, Hal Zarafat? Between you and hatred is a river of love from which we all drink.
Performance set in an abandoned building destroyed by the war in Beirut. Produced in June 2011 by The Unifiedfield with the help of Acousmatik System and the STEP BEYOND mobility grant (European Cultural Foundation).
Lost Paradise -video-performance, second part of the Future Communities project, to be developed in South East Asia in 2012- deals with the theme of the regression to our animal condition, approached with a pantheist and ecological feeling. For this project I will bathe daily with the buffaloes on the water, becoming one of them.
Regression (Leipzig, 2012). This piece attempts to be an archeological revision of my personal life / past work and the intra-history of the space where the performance will take place. In this new performance the main action will be the violent breaking of the floor tiles of the space with a hammer till a VHS tape is found. This tape has been previously hidden under the floor. Following the discovery of the tape, I will begin playback and commence watching it with the audience. The video on this tape is a pre-recording of the exact action that has just occurred from the exact same space that the public had just witnessed live. The video will end with a cut to video static for an unconfirmed period of time before a second video begins. This second video is a new interpretation of a previous work titled “Involution” (a happening from 1997 in which I invited the audience /participants to ritualistically introduce fishes into my body). On this occasion money will be used instead in the form of gold coins covered in vaseline.
